For Father's Day my brother got my dad two koi, and I got him a sudoku book. He got excited, put the fish in the tank, and went back to sleep haha. It's nice to be home where nothing really crazy happens. I jut chiew and eat food. My entire family went out to eat, and it got interesting when my dad started telling me stories about Germany and what to do or where to go. I'm pretty stoked about going maaaaans I leave soon. Last night at 1130p I met up with Harry and Gene up in the valley and hotboxed Harry's car. Hilarious times ensued. Harry is a very interesting guy; for such a huge chingoo looking Korean, he's probably one of the nicest guys I've met. It was cool seeing him hang out with his close friends from home, I think I got to know him more that way. We went up to this lookout point in Calabasas called Stunt Hill and smoked a blunt up there while we looked over LA, the valley, and the ocean. Southern California is pretty clean, no matter what. I remember thinking that way when I realized all the people in the car with me were wearing LA hats and shirts, haha. Locals only, I guess. I'm on page 82 on Into the Wild. I appreciate the honest perspective the author gives on Christopher McCandless. Idealistic, young, often erratic, but also very human. He wasn't a hero, nor was he any different from us, but he did take that step forward to see what it was like without the conventional trappings of society. He fucked up--that's for sure--when he decided to go into the wild with a knowledge of nature that was below the minimum for survival. But it was merely who he was, and I admire the courage he had for taking that step outside even when everybody constantly warned him not to. The time has come to clean up Toscana and get my shit ready to move on out. Updates to come soon, peas
